Science & Solutions for
a Planet under Pressure
Co-hosted by the National Council for Science & the Environment (NCSE) and Project Drawdown
January 5–9, 2021
Project Drawdown is a nonprofit organization that seeks to help the world reach “Drawdown”—the future point in time when levels of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere stop climbing and start to steadily decline. Since the 2017 publication of the New York Times bestseller Drawdown, the organization has emerged as a leading resource for information and insight about climate solutions.
The NCSE mission is to improve the scientific basis of environmental policy- and decision-making. NCSE specializes in programs that foster collaboration between the diverse institutions and individuals creating and using environmental knowledge including research, education, environmental, and business organizations.

2021 Conference Focus
We are bringing together leaders, research partners, scientists, decision-makers and friends from across the globe to share their science and solutions to the world's most pressing global challenges. This joint conference will
focus on the physical and social realities of climate change and the way this impacts people, ecosystems, markets and the places people live; and
how implementing climate solutions produces positive co-benefits to society, the economy, and the planet.
Be real. Stay grounded.
Explore the physical & social
realities of a changing climate.
How are the pressures of extreme heat changing where people live and how they work?
How are water scarcity and rising temperatures altering our global food system?
How can we incorporate changing ecological systems into social and political institutions?
How is the pandemic amplifying the impact of environmental and social stressors?
Discover real solutions.
Discuss synergies and interactions across sectors and levels of agency.
Evaluate real solutions and explore potential implementation pathways to advance them.
Explore the co-benefits to human and planetary well-being that climate solutions provide.
Weave together our diverse communities of scientists, researchers, decision-makers, innovators, and leaders to achieve collective impact.
Solutions. Possibility. Collaboration
Each day of the conference will hold several keynotes and plenary panels, numerous discussion sessions, posters, flash talks, and networking opportunities. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch the pre recorded content prior to the start of the conference so they can be prepared for the live discussions and workshops.
