Biography
Dr Preeti Soni has 27 years of programme and research experience in the area of Environment, Climate Change and Sustainable Development. She has been leading the environment and climate change programmes at UNDP India since 2006. At present, she is working as Chief, Climate Change, Resilience and Energy at UNDP India. She has also was worked as Advisor (Climate Change), and as the Resource person for the UN Solution Exchange Environment Community at UNDP. At the beginning of her career, she has worked as the Area Convenor and Research Associate at The Tata Energy Resource Institute (TERI – now, The Energy and Resources Institute), India, on research centred around environment policy, climate change negotiations, climate change policy instruments, environment and trade, energy and sustainable development. Dr Soni holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Environmental Studies, Virje University, Amsterdam and Institute of New Technology, United Nations University, Maastricht, The Netherlands and Masters in Economics from Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University.. Her Ph.D. thesis is on Global solutions meeting local needs: Climate Change policy instruments for diffusion of clean technologies in small-scale industries in India. She has authored and published a number of papers
